The present work aim to develop a simple, accurate and sensitive RP-HPLC method and validated for the estimation of pazufloxacin in pure drug and it's injectable dosage.
Methods
A reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was performed by using Kromasil C18, 150 × 4.6 mm, 5 μm column with UV detection at 246 nm. The mobile phase consists of 0.05 M phosphate buffer (pH 3) and acetonitrile in the ratio of 80:20% v/v.
Results
The retention time for pazufloxacin was 3.7 min. The method was linear in the concentration range of 12.5–150 μg/mL of pazufloxacin with the correlation coefficient of 0.999. In the intra-day and intermediate precision, coefficient of variation was less than 1% showing high precision of the method. The method was highly accurate with a recovery in the range 99.01–100.36%.
Conclusion
The developed reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was simple, sensitive, precise and accurate and the method was found suitable for estimating pazufloxacin in injection formulation.
