1 Setting up a new answering machine
Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
Click the "Configure New Device" button.
Under "Integrated in the FRITZ!Box", select "Answering Machine" and click "Next".
Select the operating mode, greeting delay and recording length, enter a name for the answering machine, and click "Next".
Select the numbers to which the answering machine should react.
Note:Each telephone number can only be assigned to one answering machine.
or
Enable the option "React to all numbers" (only available for the first answering machine).
Note:If you enable this option, the first answering machine reacts to all numbers that were not assigned to any other answering machine.
Click "Next" and then "Apply" to save your settings.
2 Customizing your settings
You can choose to use any of the following options and subsequently change your settings whenever you wish:
Selecting own greeting
Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click "Answering Machine" in the "Telephony" menu.
Select the answering machine you wish to configure.
Click the "Settings" button.
Click the "Change Operating Mode" button.
Enable the option "Own greeting".
Click the "Choose File" button and select the desired greeting.
Click "OK" to save the settings.
Enabling time control
Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click "Answering Machine" in the "Telephony" menu.
Select the answering machine you wish to configure.
Click the "Settings" button.
Click "Additional Settings".
Enable the option "Time control enabled".
In the weekly schedule, define the times at which the answering machine is to be switched on by marking the desired times in blue.
Note:You can mark the same periods of time for several days by holding down the left mouse button while dragging the mouse across the table.
Click "OK" to save the settings.
Sending messages via e-mail
The answering machine can automatically forward new messages to one or more e-mail addresses:
Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click "Answering Machine" in the "Telephony" menu.
Select the answering machine you wish to configure.
Click the "Settings" button.
Click "Additional Settings".
Enable the "Send messages via e-mail" option in the "Messages" section.
Enable the option "Delete messages after they are sent from the answering machine" if you wish to have messages deleted once they are sent.
Enter an e-mail address to which new message should be sent. If you wish to have messages sent to several e-mail addresses, enter the addresses separated by a comma and without any spaces between them.
Important:
If you wish to have messages recorded by the answering machine sent, you must enter your e-mail account information in the FRITZ!Box user interface under "System > Push Service". If you do not wish to use the FRITZ!Box push service, you can disable the push service again after you have entered your account information.
Click "OK" to save the settings.
Saving messages on a USB storage device
Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click "Answering Machine" in the "Telephony" menu.
Select the answering machine you wish to configure.
Click the "Settings" button.
Click "Additional Settings".
Enable the option "Use USB storage device to increase recording capacity" in the "Messages" section.
Note:If the option is grayed out, either there is no USB storage device connected to the FRITZ!Box, or the USB Remote Connection have been enabled for your USB storage device. It can be disabled in the FRITZ!Box user interface under "Home Network > USB Devices > USB Remote Connection".
Click "OK" to save the settings.
Enabling remote playback
Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click "Answering Machine" in the "Telephony" menu.
Select the answering machine you wish to configure.
Click the "Settings" button.
Click "Additional Settings".
Enable the option "Enable remote playback".
Enter a four-digit PIN. The PIN may contain numerals from 0 through 9.
Important:
Do not use "0000" for the PIN. If you enter this PIN, the remote playback function will be disabled.
Click "OK" to save the settings.
3 Using the answering machine (e.g. switching it on and off, playing back messages)
The internal answering machines of the FRITZ!Box can be easily operated using the voice menu. If you registered a FRITZ!Fon to the FRITZ!Box, you can also use the telephone's menu to operate the answering machine.
Operating the answering machine using the voice menu
You can use the voice menu to access all the functions of the integrated answering machines.
Operating the answering machine with FRITZ!Fon
Press the "Menu" key on the telephone.
Select "Answering Machine" and then press “OK”.
Press "OK" to listen to new messages.
Note:You will hear the messages recorded by all answering machines that react to numbers that your telephone also reacts to.
or
select the settings for an answering machine and press "OK". Now you can switch the answering machine off or on (operating mode "With recording" or "Greeting only") and change various settings.

4 Operating the answering machine from another telephone line
Listening to new messages
Call a telephone number that you assigned to the answering machine.
Press the star key * while listening to the greeting.
Enter the four-digit remote playback PIN.
Follow the instructions in the voice menu.
Switching the answering machine on
Call a telephone number that you assigned to the answering machine.
Let it ring until you are asked to enter the PIN you defined for remote playback.
Enter the four-digit PIN and press the 3 key on your telephone.
Your answering machine is now switched on.
3.21.5 Announcement
This is the message your callers hear on the answering
machine. There are two pre-recorded outgoing messages,
or you can record your own.
3.21.5.1Recording the announcement
1. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
ANSWER MACHINE.
2. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
ANNOUNCEMENT.
3. Press MENU to select RECORD.
4. Press MENU and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
the answer mode ANNC & RECORD or ANNOUNCE ONLY.
5. Press MENU to start recording after the beep.
6. Press MENU again to stop recording and save the
message. The just saved message is played
automatically.
NOTE
When playing the message, pressing /MUTE will delete
it and the pre-recorded message will be played
automatically.
