Welcome, to those who are interested in the world of Biochemistry. Biochemistry approaches life at the molecular level. It is the key study to Life Science, a frontier study of the twenty-first century with infinite potential. Biochemistry is advancing at a remarkable speed to provide human beings with solutions to various urgent problems in the new century, such as food shortage, environmental pollution, and incurable disease. The Biochemistry Department was established in 1969 as the first one in Korea to educate biochemists. The graduate program started in 1974.
Thus far, about 1,200 students have graduated from this department with a bachelor's degree, and they are working with excellent performance records in universities, industries, and research institutes. Our faculty and students are actively involved in various research projects at the Institute of Life Science of Biotechnology, which is a university-wide research center at Yonsei, and the Protein Network Research Center, which has been recently established with support from the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation. Our faculty members have excellent publications in renowned international journals and are striving to provide students with good experimental education to become professionals in the field of life science.
The Biochemistry Department is organizing a study program for the students of Natural Science who are interested in Biochemistry.
