OBSERVATION
We tested a solar pumping system implemented for
irrigation purpose in Paraipatti village, Dindigul.
They have installed 20 (250 W) panels each of area
2m2
are used to drive a pump such that 4 panels are
connected in series and 5 panels in parallel to meet
the power requirement of the pump. The panels
delivered total power of 3730 W. In order to convert
DC to AC voltage, MPPT (maximum power point
tracking) inverter is used. The main purpose of using
MPPT inverter is it collects maximum power of each
panel. The inverter will get started whenever the
panel achieves the maximum possible voltage level.
Once the maximum voltage is achieved it starts
counting the frequency corresponding to input DC
voltage. Once the frequency level reaches above 30
Hz, the motor starts pumping.
