1. Introduction
With the growing world population and advance in the living standards of developing countries, the raw materials demand for food or feed uses is to increase by more than 50% in the next 20 years (Vandamme et al., 2013). Again, initiative efforts have been taken for transition from an economy based on fossil fuels to a bioeconomy with renewable biomass to replace fossil oil as a source of fuel for transport and a feedstock for chemical industry (Haveren et al., 2008). Microalgae are believed to be a new and more promising source of biomass for various applications (Vandamme et al., 2013).
