As a trained actress, I am against reality TV. It's hurting my profession. There are fewer jobs available because so much air time is used up for reality TV. Then, even some of the fictional part that would be for trained actors are being taken by untrained actors who got popular while they were on a reality show. The producers want to hire them because they are already known and popular and because they'll take lower pay than a trained actor. Pay for trained actors has also been affected by reality TV. The people in reality shows will accept lower pay since they have other jobs and lives outside of the show. All in all, reality TV might be popular, but it's hurting a very old art form. My favorite thing to watch on TV is a good mystery show. I enjoy the special effects, the acting, and the plots.
