GHG emission of the recycling system showed that the glass
recycling has the highest GHG emission followed by aluminium and
PET. The recycling of post-consumer packaging represented small
environmental impact compared to the whole life cycle.
Table 3 depicts the detailed breakdown of GHG impact of the
whole system, which provides a deeper insight into the GHG
impact of different collection systems. Impacts of collection system
can be narrowed down in two different types in term of spatial
source of emission. In the following, the ratio of direct sources (such
as the transport vehicle) to the indirect sources (such as the fuel or
electricity production) was discussed, as well (see Table S4).
It can be observed that the production contributed the highest
to GHG emission followed by the distribution system. The distribution
system provided quite similar results due to the simplifi-
cation mentioned above, and because of the similar transportation
