The ignited sources in Test 2 and Test 4 are both in the room
center and the actuation time of each smoke detector is almost
the same. The location of the fire ignition source was changed to
explore how this impacted the actuation time of the smoke
detectors. The detector near the top of the ignition source
features the shortest actuation time; the one farthest from the
top of the ignition source requires the longest time (Test 3, 5–7
v.s. Test 2, 4). It can be concluded that the location of the ignition
source does affect the actuation time of the smoke
detectors.
