although the protocols are designed to be sufficient to foster translation of the current science into practice, we found the need to augment them with additional review of the literature and expert opinion and consultation with dental professionals. This is consistent with a recent integrative review done by Greenhalgh and colleagues23 on DOI in human services organizations which highlights the importance of system antecedents and readiness for change. These facility attributes may help faculty in selecting prospective clinical sites; the additional detail on the implementation and linkage processes is particularly helpful in explaining new roles of clinical faculty in academic-practice partnerships given this experience in a very high quality LTC facility with stable leadership.
