The unification of Germany:
Throughout most of its history, Germany had never been a single nation, but rather a collection of kingdoms and states ruled independently of each other. The only German state that had ever had the strength to be a major European power was Prussia which was a monarchy ruled by a king (or emperor) called the Kaiser
