The fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) of tea seed oil samples were prepared by adding 50 milligrams of tea seed oil sample into a 50-ml round bottom flask. Methanolic sodium hydroxide solution (0.5 N, 4 ml) was added into the flask after setting the reflux system. The mixture was refluxed for 15 min and then 14% methanolic boron trifluoride solution (4 ml) was added. The reaction was allowed to incubate for 3 min. n-Heptane (1 ml) was added into the flask and continuously refluxed for 1 min. Then, the solution was cooled to room temperature in a homemade ice bath. Saturated sodium chloride solution (40 ml)was added into the flask and it was allowed to separate for 30 minutes. Fatty acid methyl esters were collected and finally analysed by a gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS)
