For four months, Barbie Henderson, Robin Smith and Tracy McDaneld has been feeding her while trying everything they could to save her. Venus was wary of humans and wouldn't allow anyone close to her...
And every attempt to use a humane trap had failed. With temperatures well above 100F, time was running out. As a lost resort, we arked Dr.Scott Amsel to help us dart her using a tranquilizer gun. For several hours, Venus stayed too close to the busy highway for Dr.Amsel to safely take a shot. We immediately ran after Venus to ensure we didn't lose sight to her. After two minutes of running the tranquiilizer took effect and Venus collapsed. Lisa Arturo, Dr. Amsel, Barbie and Robin rushed Venus back to the mobile vet unit. Dr. Amsel's dogs watched over as we got to work. Once she was stabilizer, we drove to a nearby hotel for the while the night. Once Venus was awake, I stayed with her while the others left to get some rest, Around 3 A.M, I was awoken by a noise and found Venus sitting on the desk. I felt she was ready for me to start working on gaining her trust. By the following morning, she was much more relaxed. It was time for Venus to leave the desert behind and head to Los Angeles. Blake Bedirian gave her a much needed bath and a blueberry facial.
