Zanichelli et al., 2007 indicated that it wascompletely necessary to remove a significant portion of thephenolic fraction of the OMWs through an efficient enzymaticpre-treatment, before inoculating with a S. cerevisiae strain inorder to produce bioethanol. After pre-treatment and dilution,the initial phenolic compounds concentration was 2.1 g L−1andglucose supplementation of the medium was realized (TS0upto 200 g L−1), with total fermentation time being 65 days andethanol production reaching 63–95 g L−1.
