A Sales Process Enhanced by CRM
In this organization, the sales team was utilizing Excel spreadsheets to send proposals
to their clients. These spreadsheets contained product information (name, prices,
dependencies) so when product changes were rolled out it was necessary to send out
a new spreadsheet “template” to all of the sales people. This process included
significant opportunity for error:
• Sales people could mistakenly use an outdated version of the
spreadsheet
• Sales people could modify (and often did) the Excel template to suit
their needs without approval from a manager, finance, product
development, etc. – this can result in selling things that are not able
to be fulfilled, do not comply with corporate guidelines, etc.
