The novel succinic acid-producing bacterial strain DD1 is facultatively anaerobic. It was isolated from rumen content originating from a cannulated Holstein cow, belongs to the family Pasteurellaceae (Scholten and Da¨gele 2008) and was deposited with DSMZ having the deposit number DSM 18541. It is classified as Basfia succiniciproducens gen. nov., sp. nov.
(Kuhnert et al. 2009).
