Excursion: Normally, a trip away from a person's usual place of residence for less than twenty-four hours, although weekend trips are often classified as excursions. A person who takes such a trip is an excursionist. Incentive Trip: A trip offered by an organization, usually a busi- ness firm, to reward successful effort or to induce an employee to make a greater effort. Convention: A meeting at which people usually within the same field or business exchange their ideas, experiences, specialized knowledge, and so on. Accommodations: Places at which travelers can obtain a bed (and usually food) while on a trip; in other words, hotels, motels, inns, camping grounds, hostels, and so forth.
