Mobile augmented reality applications exist in the sphere of mobile computing
software. These are new to education, but growing in importance. The New Media
Consortium's Horizon Report 2012 lists mobile apps on the "near term horizon"
(impacting higher education settings in one year or less) indicative of a new service
area for libraries to develop (Johnson et aL, 2012, p. 6). Furthermore, undergraduate
students are highly connected to mobile interaction and have come to expect
information in engaging and interactive modules.
