Austro-Asiatic/Mon-Khmer – the people fall in this group are the Lawa/Lua in northern Thailand, the Kha in northern Laos and border areas of Thailand, the Khmer, the Vietnamese, and the Mon.
Sino-Tibetan – particularly Tibeto-Burman subfamily, which comprises more than 400 spoken languages found not only in SEA, but also in East Asia as well as South Asia. In SEA, Tibeto-Burman speakers include the Burmese, the Karen, the Hmong, the Mien, the Chin, the Kachin, and the Rakhine.
