Financial cards and payments slows in performance during 2015
Total transactions slowed in current value terms during 2015 compared to 2014.
Thailand’s economic conditions remained soft in 2015, while mounting household debt levels further constrained consumers’ confidence to spend during the year.
Growth in financial cards in circulation was also restrained in growth during 2015, as consumers shifted within categories, such as from store cards to credit cards. Consumers were also wary of having too many financial cards in their wallets, particularly credit cards, as they wanted to avoid overspending and running into higher debts.
