‘‘Globalization’’ has gone hand in hand with the emergence of a global logistics
market and global supply chain management practices, trying to reconcile a variety
of price, capacity, efficiency and operational constraints, but with the benefits of
standardization along transport chains. Thus, various factors and conditions of
convergence have been the object of much interest. Modern supply chain management
has favored investigations that seek to identify and understand how
standardization and harmonization were diffusing along supply chains, helping to
improve efficiency and productivity.
