Analysis is a CT skill that is used in the context of argumentation to detect, examine and identify the propositions within
an argument and the role they play; for example, the main conclusion, the premises and reasons provided to support the
conclusion, objections to the conclusion and inferential relationships among propositions (Facione, 1990b). Notably, at the
core of the Delphi definition of analysis is the ability to recognise the structure of an argument, which depends not only
on one’s knowledge and skill as a reader/listener, but also on the way in which an author/speaker uses relational cues, or
signals, that guide the reader/listener
