2.5.3. Enzyme assays
The acetyl (AChE), butyryl (BChE) and propionyl cholinesterase
(PChE) activities were quantified by an Ellman et al. [29] method
modification, using acetylcholine, butyrylthiocholine and propionyl
choline as substrate, respectively, and acid 5,5 – dithiobis-2nitrobenzoic
(DTNB) as chromogen. These activities were determined
in the plasma after 1 h centrifugation at 4000 rpm.
The data were analyzed by the Mann–Whitney test with a 5%
confidence level [30].
