The curriculum provides a comprehensive learning experience for the child.
It takes account of the enriching and humanising contribution that arts
education can make to the child’s life. It acknowledges that physical,
personal and emotional growth are crucial in the development of the whole
child. These dimensions of learning are stressed throughout the curriculum
generally, and also in the areas of physical education and social, personal
and health education. The importance of language in the child’s cognitive,
social and imaginative life and as a crucial factor in the learning process is
given new emphasis. Mathematics is presented as an area of learning that is
central to the development of life skills and as a field of interest and
enquiry that is fulfilling in itself.
