There are a couple of farms in Taiwan that produce fresh milk. I buy milk from "Four Ways" 四方(which was recommended to me by Lucymero) http://www.fourways.com.tw/
If you order enough, they deliver (they deliver to us twice a week but I don't think they speak any English). The milk is as organic as it can be in Taiwan. They have skim and whole milk. You can buy their bottles in most organic shops. I think they also have yogurt and kefir. It is not more expensive than the milk you buy in supermarkets (around 70NT per little) and it sure beats the milk powder.
I know that in the States, people give cow milk to children as early as 1 year old. In France, we generally hold off until 2 years old or later. Cow milk doesn't have all the vitamins and minerals that formula has and is more difficult to digest. Breastfed babies experience a huge drop when they switch to regular milk. I breastfed for 13 months and then switched my daughter to formula (1 to 3 year old kind). She is still on it (she is now 27 months old). She drinks regular milk too of course now but I try to keep at least 250ml of formula a day in her diet.
I also figured that formula is not much more expensive than milk in Taiwan at least so it's worth all the extra vitamin, dha...
