The most prominent packaging materials show different frequencies of use between the two product types. Paper is used significantly more for organic products than for conventional. Across categories, organic butter is packaged using paper more often than conventional. Throughout the countries, paper is used more often for organic products in Denmark and Sweden than for conventional ones in the same countries. Additional material differences are seen in the use of board and plastic. Among the categories, organic cereals use less frequently board and more plastic materials, in comparison to conventional. Board, in Sweden, is also used less frequently for organic products than for conventional ones.
