Ultraviolet spectrum of 1.0 μL L−1 Benzene is given in Fig. 1. Peak at 255 nm is selected for the method development due to higher absorbance value among the four peaks of Benzene. Absorbance at λmax 255 nm is measured with reference to the base line points 253 nm and 259 nm. The baseline points of peak are fixed based on the peak minima of Benzene peak at 255 nm. By recording the UV spectrum of 1.0 μL L−1 Benzene three times using 1 cm path length cells, the reproducibility of the peak maximum observed is 255 ± 0.1 nm. The data is processed through UV WinLab software.
