With an infrastructure that makes it easy to head in any direction, much of Central Honshu is used by Tokyoites as an antidote to daily life. The cosmopolitan city of Yokohama, only separate from Tokyo by the Tama-gawa River, has a distinctly different feel due to its long history as a port and large influx of foreign settlers. Packed with restaurants and ethnic stores, the city's bustling Chinatown is build around a temple in classic Chinese style.
