The company behind Ecocradle claims that the product is “made from agricultural crop waste bonded together with mushroom ‘roots’ (called mycelium). It’s totally renewable and home compostable.”
In a bid to further enhance the product’s green credentials, Ecovative points out: “We utilize materials that are environmentally low-impact, 100 per cent biodegradable and renewable, and are part of a healthy ecosystem. Unlike other bio-plastics, our technology isn’t based on turning food or fuel crops into materials; we’re only using inedible crop waste to create our products.”
