Second, as students learn to use each technology tool,
they also learn how to learn. As they encounter each new
tool, students are directed to the help, customer support,
and tutorial resources provided by the tool provider.
Thus, they are learning to access and use the same support
resources that will be available to them as they encounter
new technologies in their careers. In addition, when students
encounter difficulties with a technology, they are
directed to use these resources and collaborate with colleagues
to solve them. Thus, they are encouraged to become
independent learners who can exploit existing resources
to learn new skills on their own. These life-long learning
skills are perhaps the most useful long-term skills students
acquire through the course and can be used afresh with
each new generation of emerging technologies.
