Kiriwong Village is the community that is located 24 kilometers far from Nakorn Si Thammarat Province in the west. In this community, people’s way of life is different from others in the South. It is said that, around 300 years ago, the first people who were settled here escaped from the military during the reign of King Rama I. These settlers escaped along the river and found the plain among the valley, which was the highest mountain in the South. This village was called “Kun-Nam Village”, and later, when the temple, which was called “Kiriwong Temple” was built, the name of the village was, thus, changed following the temple into Kiriwong Village.
