The bioreactor is fitted with a water jacket. It was used successfully
in the production of gibberellic acid by Gibberella fujikoroi. The
bioreactor contained 12 kg of moist wheat bran at a moisture content
of 50% (wet basis). The bed was mixed for 10 s every 2 h.
The air flow rate at 28°C was 15 L/min-kg-dry-matter, which
corresponds to a flow rate of 90 L/min. The time of fermentation was
11 days. The bed temperature was maintained between 28.51.3°C
until 50 h and then reduced to 22°C at the end of the process (250 h).
