5. Final preparation. At this point all of the fat and muscle tissue clinging to the skin must be removed above. Next, the mouth is sewn closed while the skin is still turned inside out. The same procedure is used for small and large mammals. Pinch the skin of the lower jaw and pass a needle and thread through this, repeat this procedure with the skin of the upper jaw, and tie the mouth closed as shown in Fig.22-4D. Now, if the skin is too dry moisten it slightly with water. Complete the preparation by dusting arsenic or Boraxo on the skin, roll it and place it in a plastic bag to prevent drying during the preparation of the artificial body.
