We're used to tests showing too-high levels of pesticides in our produce but last week's report was a magnitude worse. An NGO sent food off to London for objective testing. The results ranged from horrible to horrific, though watermelons and cabbage passed. The rest is dangerous to health and carcinogenic. The worst was that the government approved "Good Agricultural Practice" produce was as toxic as the plain old supermarket dross. Isn't organic safe? Nope, just as bad. But the Department of Agriculture got very defensive and defended their indefensible "safe" labelling system
