Specimens ranged from 182 to 500-600 cm. A specimen caught in December 2000
in the Messina Strait and estimated at 500-600 cm total length may be the largest ever recorded for this species. Analysis
of stomach content was performed on 23 specimens; stomachs contained teleosts (60.87% of the stomachs examined),
elasmobranchs (4.35%), decapod crustaceans (8.70%), cephalopod molluscs (13.04%), echinoderms (4.35%) and
unidentified remains (39.13 %).
