Japan. She studying the violin with her mother, and seven, she gave her first public performance in Osaka.
Studying music very demanding, as well as rewarding. When she was only 10, Midori moved to New York City to study music at the Juilliard School. She also attended the Professional Children's School for her academic studies. By the time Midori turned 11, she was already an artist and had performed with the New York Philharmonic. Midori is also very generous. In 1992, she created an organization Midori & Friends that provides free music education for children in city schools.
Midori is now a professor of music at the University of Southern California.
