Hanita,
Neither of my kids really drink milk. As my motherinlaw and husband have trouble digesting it I haven't pushed Kyle with it. Hannah is still nursing but I give her a little milk in a cup each day, she's not excited by the milk but she likes the cup. My kids go through the Hokkaido cheese sticks very quickly, though.
I also asked some people I know about the milk/milk powder mix thing in Taiwan, the local moms told me that they think it must be, as the milk in Taiwan is much sweeter and thicker than the milk they drank when living abroad in Canada, and because there are really not that many cows in Taiwan.
Regarding milk powder, I never really considered it for my kids. My fatherinlaw likes it though. I just looked at the milk powder we have here at home, both Nestle, to check the contents. I see they are both made in China. So if you care about where it is made you may want to read the labels carefully.
I really like that organic milk beya mentions, it makes great yogurt in the yogurt maker.
