During the initial stage, A. donax began vegetative regrowth
earlier than C. alternifolius, leading to greater plant growth during
crop development stage, when a large increase in Kcwas found.
During mid-season stage, both species reached best results in
terms of height and stem density, even though growth rates were
stable and lower than those of the previous stage. During this
stage, Kcvalues remained constant. Between the end of September
and the end of November, during late-season stage, Kc
fell sharply,
although the two species behaved differently according to the
different vegetative cycle lengths. It is clear that there is a strong
correlation between the growth stages of the plants and Kc
. This
means that when the plants are enjoying best vegetative
conditions, in terms of height, stem density and leaf number, ET
processes are more intense
