In view of this, in the present work, minced cassava root husks
were characterized by FTIR and elemental analysis to identify functional
groups responsible for its capacity to coordinate metal ions.
The material, was tested in the extraction of Cu(II) from water
and was applied in column experiments to test its ability to preconcentrate
metal from natural river water. The accuracy of the
preconcentration method was evaluated by comparison against a
certified reference material
