and demonstrated that when sufficient food resources were
available the stocking density do not affect the growth. The final biomass
(wet weight) in Experiment 3 ranging from 3.5 to 12.8 g L−1
(Table 2)was larger than values in Dong et al. (2010) who found amaximumbiomass
of 2.16 g L−1 at the density of 20 individuals 100 L−1. In
the present experiment, there were relatively small variations in the
final biomass (10.0–12.8 g L−1) among vessels B–F despite the large
variability in the density (5–24 individuals/vessel). The ratio of the
increased biomass to the total TOC flux into the culture vessel a
