Paranoid schizophrenia

Abstract
Schizophrenia is a clinical syndrome of variable but profoundly disruptive psychopathology that involves impairment in cognition, emotion, perception and behavior with variable clinical presentations. Treatment response and prognosis depends mainly on duration of illness, type of symptoms and compliance to the medication. This is a case report of a 26-year-old male patient suffering from schizophrenia since 4 years presented with predominant positive symptoms. Patient was treated with oral Olanzapine and electroconvulsive therapy. Clinical issues like prognostic factors, treatment modalities, social issues, drug compliance and psycho-education are discussed. Keywords: Schizophrenia, Positive symptoms, Antipsychotics.
