In this paper, we propose an integral imaging (II) display for depth-extending based on a plano-convex
micro-lens array and a flat-panel array. Because of using the flat-panel array, the proposed II display
can produce two central depth planes (CDPs) compared to the conventional II display which produces a
unique CDP. The distance between the two CDPs varies with the thickness and the refractive index of the
flat-panel array, thus, the depth of II can be enhanced. The details of the proposed II display are discussed,
and the formula that calculates the distance between the two CDPs is given. The simulation experimental
results are presented to verify the feasibility of the theory.
