Although a further increase in moisture level
resulted in less of an increase (33%) compared to the controls, fungal
pre-treatment of the biomass samples with an initial moisture
content of 90% led to the highest methane yield after 14 days of
anaerobic incubation, however, no significant difference to the
samples with 70% moisture and T. viride pre-treatment could be
ascertained (Fig. 3C).
