2.2 Signal Representation Using Fourier Series
The communication systems engineer is often concerned with the signal location in the frequency domain and the signal bandwidth rather than transient analysis. Thus, we will be interested in steady-state analysis much of the time. Fourier series provides a frequency domain model for periodic signals that is useful for analyzing their frequency content and for calculating the steady-state response of networks for periodic input. Signals having finite energy over a finite interval(t_1 〖,t〗_2), and signals that are periodic with a finite energy within each period can both be represented by the Fourier series.
