The extract samples from different plant sources were analyzed
using a Shimadzu UV–visible spectrophotometer UV-2101
PC after suitably diluting the extracted dye. The UV–VIS spectrum
of the coloring matter from each plant materials were obtained
in the visible region of 400–800 nm. Then the dye present in the
extracted solution was analyzed by measuring the absorbance
value at a wavelength of maximum or peak absorbance (max) or
at a specific wavelength. The wavelength for absorbance measurement
for non-peak yielding plant is chosen as the average value
from the wavelength range of complementary color of the natural
dye.
