Ans One way to protect iron from rusting is to coat it with zinc. iron so treated is called galvanized iron. If the zinc. coating is scratched, the zinc will corrode rather than the iron since zinc is a more reactive metal than iron. Galvanized parts of a car are thus protected from excessive corrosion.
