Narrative Writing
It was a cloudy day in fall, downtown Seattle in the afternoon was still crowded. People were walking through the falling leaves on the ground. McDonalds was full of people, nearby the window there was a girl, I sat over there talking seriously too. This girl was my best friend; she decided to run away from home because she did not like her parents very much. She can’t stand anymore when they forced her to break up with her boyfriend. He was not as rich as them. At that time I was persuading her to go back home, her parents were really worried they hoped to have her back home as soon as possible. But…she did not listen to me at all! She said that I didn’t understand her. Both of us were crying and our conversation was louder and louder, every single person in McDonalds was looking at us and whispering about what we were talking about. Finally she did not care about anything; she stood up and ran away from McDonalds left me there crying alone at the table. I didn’t know how long I was crying but I cried and cried…until I felt something hit my leg…
“Oh I’m so sorry lady” a sonorous sound said to me. I looked at him carefully he was a tall guy who had blue eyes and blown curly hair, wearing a McDonalds’ uniform but…no socks. The mop in his hand hit my leg a little bit.
“That’s fine” I replied hoarsely. I thought he would go, but he didn’t. He stopped at my table and asked.
“What’s wrong with you?” I looked at him again and then I asked him a question.
“If you don’t like your parents, you don’t have to like the things they like. What do you like to do? ” he sat at my table then said.
“You know? Actually the manager asked me to make you be quiet, but you guys seem like you had something to talk about. If you’d like to tell me I’m pleased to listen” I cried and told the whole story about my friend. Oh I knew that his name was Alex. It took me more than half an hour to finish telling the story. Next moment I was surprised by him; Alex graduated college and then he ran away, he didn’t like his parents so he understood my friend. He gave some advice to me.
“Let her go for a while, everything will be better, her life belongs to her not her parents.”
“But her parents really worry, they’re scared her hurt someway” I said.
“Well, people are never strong If they were hurt before” he said like it was easy. Yeah it was easy for him, not for me…
“What should I do?” I asked like a girl who doesn’t know what to do.
“Don’t do anything except tell her parents to stop forcing her; tell them she will be safe and when she comes back she will be stronger.” I thought about what he said for a while, he stood up and walked away before he was gone. I realized that I did not thank him yet. I stood up, followed him and called,
“Alex!” again, my voice was too loud, people in McDonalds were looking where the noise came from, but that was me! But I did not care, i continue yelling to him.
“What?” Alex said
“Thank you” I said and smiled to him.
“You’re welcome” he replied and then walked back to the staff room.
I walked out of McDonalds with a stress less mind, so I went ahead to my friend’s house and told her parents what Alex told me.
