The journalist (who is often a writer of great brilliance) writes pieces to be read tomorrow or next week, not a hundred or a thousand years form now. He might be worried at the thought of people reading them even a year or two later for he know that there is nothing so dead as an old newspaper with its forgotten personalities and old-fashioned views of the world. The advertisement-writer, like the journalist, is concerned only with the people of his own time.
