In a recent column I highlighted China's new policy of encouraging greater use of renewable energy. This should offer a welcome boost to the country's solar power industry, which has gone through a difficult phase over the past couple of years with a severe slump in world prices of solar panels, bankruptcies of manufacturers in China, Europe and the US, plus the threat of a trade war.
But even without the new policy, the outlook for solar has brightened in the past month or so.
