Diabetic Autonomic Neuropathy
The symptoms and signs of autonomic
dysfunction should be elicited carefully
during the history and physical examination. Major clinical manifestations
of diabetic autonomic neuropathy
include resting tachycardia, exercise
intolerance, orthostatic hypotension,
gastroparesis, constipation, erectile dysfunction,
sudomotor dysfunction, impaired
neurovascular function, and,
potentially, autonomic failure in response
to hypoglycemia.
