In addition, a simulation of the naphtha splitter showed that the feed preheat
recovery factor was only 0.5–0.6. Therefore, the better solution, as shown in Figure 25.5,
was to increase the duty of E-2 and reduce the T-2 feed temperature to 120 °C. Even
though this resulted in a 4 t/h increase of MP steam to E-3, it reduced the amount of LP
steam to E-1 by 7 t/h. The annual savings were $215,000
